Smooth HD

Jun 4, 2009 at 3:30 PM

Ijust downloaded the latest version of the SL Extensions library and am interested in how you're doing the HD Smooth Streaming. I'm not seeing any information on this in the project.  Is this done on the server side or on the client side?  Can you please lend more clarification on how you implemented this.

Thanks.

Hi,

The available source code includes the MediaPlayer and AdaptiveStreaming libraries that are coming with Expression Encode 2 sp1. To broadcast a Smooth HD video you need to encode them with Expression Encoder 2 sp1 and publish (copy) the output files on a IIS 7 computer. You need to install the server components for IIS 7 to be able to broadcast your video. You can find them here http://www.iis.net . On the client side you need to set a custom source to you MediaElement to display this kind of Video.

mediaElement.SetSource(new  Microsoft.Expression.Encoder.AdaptiveStreaming.AdaptiveStreamingSource(mediaElement, videoManifestUri));
